This book is a guide to reading old documents. It takes the reader through the alphabet with examples of how letters might appear. Each letter is matched with relevant words and illustrations in order to help the reader put them into context. Using this book will help the reader to quickly pick up the main subject of a document by demonstrating how old words were formed. Examples of wills and probate inventories are given and at the back there is a full list of words in the alphabet with sample letters.
