The Liberal Party won a massive victory in the election of 1906. However, during the election campaign, they did not promise to bring in welfare reforms. In fact, poverty and walfare were not big election issues for any of the parties. * Despite this, the Liberal government bought in wide-ranging and controversial reforms almost as soon as they took office.

So historians have often puzzled over why they did this, and now it's your turn!
