PRIME MINISTER'S PERSONAL MINUTE
MINISTER OF FOOD
Would you please let me know to what extent the date of the Local Elections was taken into account when May 8th was fixed as the end of butter rationing. It has been suggested to me from several quarters that the consequent rises in price of butter in the coming week may work to the advantage of the Socialists, as did the reduction of the cheese ration just before the Local Elections two years ago.
