"Let us go forward together" poster (INF 10/213)

Using original documents held here at the Archives, students are given the opportunity to develop their document analysis skills to draw out evidence that will help them to build their knowledge of life in Britain on the Home Front during the Second World War.

Students will have the opportunity to work with photographs, posters, film clips and leaflets in order to draw out some of the main issues that faced the government and the public during wartime. They will be taken through a step by step process that will demonstrate how they can work with historical documents to find out about the past while encouraging them to raise questions about the documents under analysis.

At the end of the session we encourage students to reflect upon the skills and knowledge they have built throughout the session. Students will be asked to explain how they have used documents to find out about life on the Home Front and provide tips on how to analyse historical documents.
