TSO (The Stationery Office) has been awarded a five year contract to publish the London, Edinburgh and Belfast Gazettes online and in print.

The Gazettes are the official journals of record of government. They contain statutory information, notices and advertisements setting out the business of government and putting it permanently on the public record.

Re-use of information

The new contract will see significant improvements in the delivery of the service and offers best value for money for government. It brings the service more in line with the digital age and the online use of data and allows the information in the Gazettes to be more widely available.

Carol Tullo, Director of Information Policy at The National Archives, said: 'The Gazettes offer a unique source of data about the business of government and the public sector. Securing this important resource so that it can be reused and remains permanently available to users is what differentiates official publishing. This new contract understands the ways customers and government use this rich seam of data in an online world and we are excited about the potential to shape the new services.'

The new contract starts on 1 January 2013. Find out more information about the Gazettes, their history and the award of the contract on our Gazettes page.
