National Archives website short-listed for Children's BAFTA

03 November 2008

A groundbreaking education website from The National Archives, Focus on Film, has been short-listed for a Children's BAFTA in the annual British Academy of Film and Television Arts awards.

Focus on Film explores film as a historical source and features a range of original footage from the twentieth century and historical reconstructions of earlier periods. It includes activities for children, such as an innovative tool which enables students to experience working with a film editor.

The website, which was jointly funded with the South East Grid for Learning, faces tough competition from the BBC, Hi8us and Radley Yeldar/Teachers'TV.

For the first time, children aged 14 and under will be able to vote for their favourite film TV programme, video game and website. Vote here

Keith Chegwin will host the awards ceremony at the Park Lane Hilton on 30 November.
