The leakage of information about SOE's TABLE TOP operation into Denmark in 1942 prompted a lengthy investigation by the Security Service at SOE's request. The agents who were to be dropped into Denmark had lunched some weeks before the operation at the Three Vikings restaurant in Glasshouse Street in London, and a report of this luncheon was reported to the British agent ARTHUR from a German source in Denmark before the drop took place. Staff at the Three Vikings came under immediate suspicion, but there were intense investigations (carried out by Anthony Blunt for some of the time) into the Danish community in London and within SOE.
KV 6/39 (1942-1943) includes notes of interviews with ARTHUR and other key figures, analyses of the possible suspects and reports on their activities. The file includes photographs of the proprietors and staff of the restaurant.
The investigation continues in KV 6/40 (1943-1945), but peters out with no definite conclusion after the last possible suspect, former SOE wireless operator Carl Starup, was interviewed and cleared.
