The IMA strategy
"To deliver measurable improvements in information management across government by providing robust independent validation of the standards and integrity of the information management processes within public sector organisations."
Incorporated within The National Archives' vision is a commitment "to lead and transform information management across government". This has led to the development of a high level, hard-hitting, risk-based Information Management Assessment (IMA) programme.
The programme will deliver measurable improvements across Government by providing robust, independent validation of the standards and integrity of the knowledge and information management processes and capability within departments.
The initial pilot programme has completed two successful years, drawing participants from a wide range of volunteer departments. As a result, areas of good practice were highlighted and recommendations made to improve standards and also, importantly, ensure that the IMA programme continues to meet the needs of the participants, now and in the future.
This strategy outlines the aims, objectives and scope for the programme for the next five years. It defines a clear vision for the future direction of IMAs led by The National Archives.
