The Big Draw

Welcome to the Time Travel Club’s special activities for The Big Draw

The theme of this year’s festival is ‘Climate of Change’:

In 2020 The Big Green Draw Festival #ClimateOfChange focuses on the relationship between people and our living environments and ecosystems; highlighting how we live today and the ways in which we do and do not harmonise with nature.

The National Archives holds many documents which tell us about different aspects of our relationship with the environment and nature.

Over the course of the festival, we will be releasing weekly activities which relate to the themes of the seasons, bugs and insects, recycling and green spaces.

The activities include images of real documents from the collection with suggested questions to answer, alongside special craft/creative activities which will get you spending time outdoors and thinking about the natural environment!

In the UK, we have four seasons and each season has its own type of weather.

Bugs and insects are vital for the health of the natural world and for making food.

The government needed everyone in the Second World War to support and take part in the war effort.

Parks, gardens, the countryside or even just a favourite tree – green spaces are all around us, from the densest urban environments to the wildest reaches of rural areas.
