This file of certificates of exemption for barons of the Cinque Ports (interspersed in a few places with tiny blank pieces of parchment, probably to act as dividers) is expressly associated with the levy in Kent of the four payments of the one and a half fifteenths and tenths granted in the parliament which began in November 1439. Many of the certificates are not dated, but those that are all fall between 15 June 1440 and 15 October 1441.
