RSS feeds let you stay up to date with the latest releases on The National Archives' website. You can subscribe to a feed by adding the links below to your news reader software.
A feed is really just a web page that lists what is new on a website. News reader software looks at these pages and works out what is new and what you haven't read already. You can also see feeds from multiple websites at once so you can quickly scan lots of places.
There is some debate about the meaning, but most people take RSS to stand for 'Really Simple Syndication'.
To access news feeds you need a news reader program. You can download these for free and there are many different choices (see below). News readers download the news items in the same way that your email program downloads messages to your computer.
Most modern web browsers have built-in news readers. They automatically search for feeds when you visit a web page. If they find one they will show the orange RSS icon or a link so that you can subscribe.
