The Paxton Trust

This project, ‘Parallel Lives, Worlds Apart’, supported by the Esmée Fairbairn Collections Fund & Museums Galleries Scotland, has enabled 1370 sets of archival documents relating to transatlantic slavery to be made available online.  These archives supported their new workshops with children from Descendants and schoolchildren in the Scottish Borders.

National Library of Scotland

The National Library of Scotland has produced its first ever dual language exhibit: ‘Sgeul | Story: Folktales from the Scottish Highlands’. It focuses on the work of 19th-century folklorist John Francis Campbell, who worked with local storytellers to record Gaelic folktales. The exhibit invites visitors to learn about folktales in the Gaelic-speaking areas of Scotland and how they’ve been preserved for future generations.

Comhairle nan Eilean Siar and National Library of Scotland

Through a successful collaboration between the Comhairle nan Eilean Siar and the National Library of Scotland, funded by Bòrd na Gàidhlig and The Gaelic Language Promotion Trust, 100 rare videotapes produced by communities in the Outer Hebrides in the late 1970s were digitised and made publicly accessible. UistFilm created a detailed catalogue of the material and ran a series of 28 successful community engagement events across the Outer Hebrides.
